We all want to achieve the perfect lifestyle, studded with the healthiest of hobbies and creative patterns. However, achieving a healthy lifestyle is not as easy.
A lot of factors go into creating the perfect lifestyle and many of us are just not ready to take it how it is. However, if you keep reading this article you’ll find out our 5 healthy lifestyle tips for a longer life!
The truth about creating a perfect lifestyle is that it is a journey and not an overnight phenomenon.
You don’t just get the perfect lifestyle, you have to build it.
It is a step by step process instead of a one-time huge makeover. Here are some of the essential steps you can take today to build a healthy lifestyle for yourself!
1. Eat right
This is one of the most touched (and overlooked) topic on the internet worldwide. Researchers and Nutritionists have been saying this for years and they just cannot stress this enough:
The journey to a healthier lifestyle starts with what you put on your plate!
Be mindful of what you eat because you are what you eat, or so they say. Your plate should consist of plenty of veggies, adequate proteins, and complex carbohydrates, not processed carbohydrates.
It is also important that you fill your plate in that order. This makes sure that you get your required amount of veggies and proteins, and that you’re not just stuffing your plate with those “feel good” carbs.
Also included in your plate should be good fats. It is a myth that fats are inherently bad and contribute to uncontrollable weight gain.
While some fats do have a notorious reputation of contributing to obesity, not all fats are bad.
In fact, fats are essential because they make the myelin sheath that covers your neurons contributing to faster and more effective nerve transmission.
Thus, fats are essential for CNS development. Good fats are found in avocado, olive oil, fatty fish, and nuts!
2. Sleep is not for the weak
Contrary to popular Millenial belief, sleep is in fact not for the weak. If you’re the kind of person who works late even on the weekends trying to close that sale, you need to rethink your lifestyle choices.
By working late and not getting enough rest, you’re hurting yourself in more ways than you can think of.
You are depriving yourself of valuable sleep time and that my friend is a big no for anyone looking for a healthy lifestyle.
Most people think that they are wasting time while sleeping when they could be working harder to make money for their dream life.
However, what’s interesting is that science tells us that we cannot function properly if we do not get at least 8 hours of sleep every night. Yes. 8 hours. Every night.
This is especially problematic because you think you’re doing everything right with your diet and your exercise but you still can’t seem to shag off that extra weight, or that you just can’t seem to wake up with enough energy for the day.
This is because you’re not taking sleep seriously.
Start by fixing a reasonable bed time on day 1 and continue to get into bed 5 minutes earlier every subsequent day.
This is a good approach for people looking to ease into the healthy sleep cycle club!
3. Drink plenty of water
Drinking enough water every day is extremely important, especially if you have an active lifestyle. According to researchers, drinking 8 glasses of water every day is important for your body to maintain homeostasis.
Even if you don’t have an active lifestyle which saves you from sweating, you are still vulnerable to water loss. Thus, it is advised to actively monitor your water drinking habit on a daily basis.
Drinking a glass of water in the morning can be a good idea to give a “heads up” to your GIT. It is also a good idea to drink water before every meal.
It helps you be more mindful of the amount of food you consume in one sitting. Drinking plenty of water has also been linked to weight loss!
4) Move around for a change
If you’re reading this, your daily life probably includes a lot of sitting down. You might think that sitting down all day is not that bad but you would be wrong.
Sitting down all day is literally the epitome of a sedentary lifestyle. It hurts you in more ways than one.
Even if you work out every day, sitting down the rest of the day is still a bad idea. In fact, this research shows that prolonged periods of sitting can negate the useful effects of exercise!
It is extremely important for a healthy lifestyle that you keep moving around! A baby “step” would be to set hourly alarms throughout the day and move around for 5 minutes for every hour that you spend sitting on your bottom.
5. Exercise in more than just one way
Going to the gym and working out for one hour every day might offer the greatest benefit in terms of losing calories, but that is not for everyone.
I mean if you can, sure why not? Sticking to a gym routine is extremely desirable. It also carries the maximum benefit when it comes to working for a healthier lifestyle.
However, if you just can’t seem to put up with a gym routine, that does not mean that it’s the dead end on the fitness road for you.
In fact, there are a gazillion other ways to get your body the essential workout it needs every day.
When it comes to losing weight or eating right, you need to create a routine that’s fun rather than trying to adapt a hellish routine that you just can’t seem to follow.
Take dancing for example. If you’re the type of person who can’t resist a sick beat even when you’re trying to focus on writing that sales report, it would actually be a great idea to take a break from your computer screen and dance to it.
You’re not just losing calories, you’re also having fun!
