Do you know what it takes to change your life? It’s your habits. Yes! If you want to change your life, you need your life changing habits, in order to lead your life happily and successfully.
The scientific evidence shows that it takes an average of 21 days to 66 days to form a new habit.
Every successful person and failure person has the same goals but what made them different is the process, time, and perseverance.
“You are what you do repeatedly,” the philosopher said. “So your excellence isn’t an act, it’s a habit.”
— Aristotle
10 life changing habits that literally change your life.
1. Gratitude
We all branded with unhealthy or negative emotions like anger, jealously, fear, guilty, hatred, shame, and grief.
In order to release unhealthy emotions, all you have to do is, you ought to be thankful and grateful to the people and things who are supporting us directly and indirectly.
When you are in a state of thankfulness, you begin to see the measurable changes in your personality.
Gratitude Practice in the morning
Every morning when you wake up, instead of thinking of your day or your past, you simply show your gratitude to the almighty by affirming like this, “Thank you, Almighty for giving me another beautiful day to improve myself.”
You can add your own affirmation if you want.
When you start your day with a grateful feeling then your entire day would be filled with positivity and then there will be no room for negativity.
Gratitude Practice in the night
Every night before you go to bed, review your day, and either write it down or mentally note five things you can be grateful for in your life.
These can be everything; either it can be objects or people in your life.
Just close your eyes and bring the picture of that person or object into your awareness and affirm the following statement, “Thank you so much (his or her name) for your support and love.”
If you want, you can add your own statement but make sure that add an elevated feeling of gratitude to your statement while affirming the lines — Mean it wholeheartedly when you are affirming it. Words with no feelings are powerless.
Picture + words+ feelings = Results
2. Meditation
Mediation would always be the top-list habit that I would recommend people to start practicing meditation for the best results in all areas of their life.
3. Physical Exercise
Your body always tries to influences your mind to take charge of you. Therefore, you should add up the physical exercise into your daily schedule to enhance your health both physically and mentally.
So, make a ritual of doing any kind of exercise for 15 to 30 minutes in a day.
4. Reading
Readers are the leaders. The more you read, the better you become.
If you observe that most of the successful people in the world are avid readers and they invest their valuable time in reading books and update their knowledge continuously.
The richest man in the world, Bill Gates reads 50 books in a year. That sounds amazing, right? Once he said in his interview that, wherever I travel in the world, I carry a book with me, and spend my traveling with the book.
Reading is the best habit for me to enhance my understanding and it is the best way to learn new things.
5. Writing
I neither a writer nor had any experience in writing, then how would I write and what would I write? These questions might be raised up in your mind when it comes to writing, is that so?
I felt the same way when I started writing my debut novel, but once I started, my ideas went in the flow.
I would recommend you start with small, maintain your personal journal and start writing on any subject that you would like to express your feelings on or even you can write your short-term and long-term goals, or your daily schedule.
Maintain your own journal
Knowing is something than doing. If you want your things to be done successfully as per your plan, then you must need to pen it down on a piece of paper.
6. Clean your mental room
What if you don’t clean your room for one week or one month or one year, it becomes a mess, is that so? In the same way, if you don’t clean your mental room, it becomes havoc.
So make a habit of cleaning your mental room with vivid mental pictures and concise positive words.
7. Nutrition Food
Nutrients provide nourishment. Proteins, carbohydrates, fat, vitamins, minerals, and water are all nutrients.
If people do not have the right balance of nutrients in their diet, their risk of developing certain health conditions increases.
Having nutrition into your diet could actually help you to reduce the risk of disease.
8. Mindfulness
Thoughts are the language of the mind and Feelings are the language of the body.
Feelings and emotions are the records of past experiences.
When you are not focused on what you are doing right now or present moment, your body gets influenced by your past events that attached to the emotions.
As a result, your unconscious mind re-visit the event in the past which causes distractions while you are doing your work in the present moment.
Hence, you ended up losing your concentration.
Consciousness
The best way to get rid of negative thoughts or overthinking is to stay in the present moment.
No matter how many times your mind wanders, bring it back into your consciousness. Every time you do this, you are lowering the volume of your past emotions that influences you all the time.
Therefore, when you become fully aware of your present moment which called it mindfulness or consciousness that helps you to reduce anxiety, depression, and several mental illnesses.
In mindfulness, we start to see the world as it is not as we expect it to be, how we want to be.
9. Change Your Vocabulary
The way you speak has a greater influence on your life. I personally believe that the words have the power to create your reality and can also destroy your life.
It is all based upon what kind of words you are choosing to speak with yourself and with others.
If you want to talk something negative, you better don’t speak about it. If it is positive then talk about it in 50 or more in words, think of it as part of life-changing habits.
Your vocabulary influences your actions and your actions influence your feelings and your feelings influence your thoughts. And your thoughts create your reality.
10. Spend Time With Nature
After technology came into our lives, we are less likely to interact with nature. In fact, we disconnected ourselves from nature.
Though we are experiencing the world at our fingertips, but we fail to experience this beautiful nature.
