Emotions are responses to significant internal and external events.
It’s not bad to feel emotions but how long you are lingering into those emotions? It’s all matters.
Positive emotions or healthy emotions create benefits to boost your immune system and negative emotions or unhealthy emotions create your nervous system chaos.
5 Steps To Control Your Unhealthy Emotions
1. Identify Your Emotion
The first step is to identify your emotion and how you’re experiencing it. To identify your emotion, ask yourself the following questions.
- What am I feeling now?
- Why am I feeling this emotion?
To control your emotions, first, all you need to do is to identify your emotions and take the master control over your emotions with your ‘will-power’.
2. Change Your Perceptions
Everyone shaped their perceptions based on their past experiences. They attached meaning to certain people or situations in the past that influence one’s emotions.
The way you perceive the world differs your emotions, if you perceive differently, you feel the emotions differently.
No two people can see the situation with the same lens, they feel differently and think differently based upon how they perceive the situation.
Therefore, change your ‘Meanings and Pictures’ on certain people and things in your mind to control your emotions.
3. Stop Over Analyzing
Emotions and Feels are the end product of the past experience.
When you revisit your past experience, again and again, in the sense, you are inviting the same unhealthy emotion that you felt in that past situation.
When you over-analyze your past experiences in the repeated loops, you’re opening the doors of your past negative emotions which triggers you to feel sad, depressed, miserable, agony, etc.
Every time you’re settling yourself to the ‘present moment’, you’re making the past emotions lower. Every time you do this, you are getting free from your past unhealthy emotions.
4. Let It Go
Your emotions are certain people or things in the past which triggers you to feel in a certain way.
The best way to deal with your past unhealthy emotions is to forgive yourself and others completely cause forgiveness releases your past unhealthy emotions and makes you free.
If you are not able to create your future, just because of some negative past emotions is controlling you how you think and feel then you should take a charge on your emotions and manage it with your conscious choices.
Forgiveness is the best medicine to release your past unhealthy emotions.
5. Take Action
All your actions effect by your emotion. We change our actions by altering our emotions.
If we change our emotions, we could actually change our behavior — “We can change our emotions by changing our thinking pattern.”
The person’s life an outcome of their actions that they must take responsibility for their actions.
Taking challenging decisions on your actions not only, you can manage your emotions but also you can lead a happy life.
